A Houston area mother was outraged after she says her 4-year-old son was injured after putting on a brand new pair of shoes she bought at Walmart.
She says there was a razor blade in those shoes.
Monica Celestine bought her son a $5 pair of Spiderman shoes just like these at Walmart but when 4-year-old Korrigan slipped them he got quite a surprise.
“Put the shoes on and he started screaming.
I took the shoes off and there was a blade.
After I inspected the shoes there was a blade on the inside of the shoe.” said Celestine.
The picture she took showed the razor blade cut Korrigan’s foot along with the shoes and receipt.
Afraid of infection she rushed her son to be checked out by a doctor.
“I don’t know what’s on the blade, what had been exposed to the blade, what had been exposed to him.” said Celestine.
She says she then notified Walmart and the police who now are investigating.
Monica said it was suspicious the way the blade was tucked into the side of the shoe sharp side up. As if someone put it there on purpose.
It’s been almost two weeks since the incident and Korrigan’s foot is healed. But his mom says she learned an important lesson and now has a warning for other parents.
“Just be careful. Make sure you check everything not just shoes. You never know what’s going on either on accident or on purpose.” said Celestine.
Channel 2 reached out to Walmart, they are looking into the incident and we’re still waiting to hear back.
